Tips for novice fragrance layers

What does layering mean?

Fragrance hierarchy is the art of pairing two or more different fragrances together. By pairing multiple scents together, you can create a brand-new fragrance that is unique, or you can enhance your favorite perfume with numerous other styles. More below!

First of all, when did this famous hierarchical perfume become popular?

The TRADITION OF SWEET ATMOSPHERE LAYERING CAN TRACE BACK TO THE HISTORY OF HUMAN USE SWEET ATMOSPHERE. In Mesopotamia, worshippers were required to purify their bodies by bathing and applying fragrances and perfumes before praying. In historic religious halls, priests, imams, rabbis, and pujari would sprinkle perfume on the temple walls and burn incense in the corners to create a peaceful atmosphere of worship. Can you imagine the smell of lavender oil and milk cigarettes wafting through a crowded hall? The layers of the perfume draw on these ancient traditions.

Why use different layers of perfume?

Different levels of scents allow you to create your unique bouquet. We know that other people smell different scents. Still, various levels of scents can take your expression one step further, allowing you to create a fresh canvas of perfumes every day, depending on your mood and season.

Are you going to see a movie on a rainy Saturday afternoon? Mix earthy scents like patchouli and sandalwood to complement the natural outdoor movement. Are you feeling sluggish and in need of a pick-me-up on Monday afternoon? Apply rose powder with Princess Nerola, a citrus-floral blend that enhances the senses.

Layering scents will create your blend and make them last longer. For this purpose, you will use the same scent, such as Rose Attar, in different formats: body oil, body powder, perfume oil, and perfume spray. When the vapor from the perfume spray is gone, the fragrance oil persists, interacting with the skin’s sweat glands and releasing continuously throughout the day.

Tips for using different scents

There is no right or wrong way to layer perfume. But if you need guidance, we’ve got you covered!

  • Use THE MOST HEAVY SWEET ATMOSPHERE FIRST, REAPPLY LIGHTER SWEET ATMOSPHERE. For example, if you use a harsh perfume spray like Wanderlust, use layers of fragrance that interact well with Wanderlust’s earthy patchouli scent, such as sandalwood powder or body oil.
  • Use different types of products to make the smell last longer. As mentioned above, use various products such as perfume sprays, body oils, body powders, or body butter. Each different product releases odor at its rate. Vapors such as sprays can be intense at first and fade faster than oils, which are lighter but stay on the skin longer. With different types of products, you can ensure that your scent will last over time.
  • Be sure to add moisturizer. Perfume is challenging to adhere to dry skin, causing it to fade quickly. Ensure your skin is moisturized with scented body oil or butter before spritzing.
  • Start with perfumes from the same small group. Serve with rose powder and moonflower oil. Or spray sandalwood perfume with sandalwood powder.
  • Use contrasting scents to get creative. Vanilla adds a sweet creaminess, especially the woody notes. Citrus can add brightness to any flower. Check out the chart below for ideas on giving away perfume.
