But what does that mean? Aging gracefully means caring for your skin in a way that allows you to look and feel your best at any age. It’s about embracing natural aging while using active ingredients and techniques to jump-start skin cells.

I will share tips for maintaining youthful, healthy skin as you age in this article. While drinking water and wearing sunscreen are essential, there’s much more to a good skincare routine.

Ten tips for Aging gracefully

Tip 1: Double cleaning

One of the most critical steps in any skincare routine is cleansing. Our skin produces less oil as we age, making it more prone to drying out and dehydration.

That’s why I always recommend double cleansing to my clients. Start with an ultra-gentle cleanser that deep cleans and removes makeup.

Then, use a second cleanser with anti-aging and exfoliating properties to prepare for the rest of your daily routine.

Tip 2: Add antioxidants

Antioxidants protect the skin from environmental stresses such as pollution and UV rays. They also help fight free radicals, which can lead to premature aging.

Look for products containing vitamin C, E, and ferulic acid to get the most benefit.

Tip 3: Use retinoids

Retinoids are derivatives of vitamin A that improve the texture and tone of the skin. They are scientifically proven to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and even skin discoloration. Start with a low percentage and gradually increase it where tolerable.

Tip 8: Exercise regularly

Regular physical activity has countless health benefits and improves the look and feel of your skin. Exercise improves blood flow and delivers oxygen and nutrients to skin cells, producing glowing skin.

Tip 9: Get enough sleep

Lack of sleep can seriously damage your skin, resulting in dark circles, puffiness, and an overall tired appearance. Aim for seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night to give your skin time to repair and rejuvenate.

Tip 10: Consider professional treatment

While at-home skincare routines and regular facials can work wonders, sometimes we need a little extra help combating aging. Professional non-invasive treatments such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and micro-acupuncture can target specific problems to rejuvenate your skin.
