Barbara Parvin at the Cannes Film Festival

She wrote to ITG from Cannes, where she worked with Barbara on several more film premieres. Here, she looks at Barbara’s makeup from last night, including not one, not two, but three (!!) looks. Let Toby take it from here.

Dear ITG,

I was just in Cannes with Barbara Palvin! We’ve been working together for the past seven years. I flew in this week to help her prepare for some events, including yesterday’s film premiere. We put on her red carpet makeup a very soft, glossy lip that Barbara loves, so we chose super clean, white skin and very light contours to make her lips shine.

First, I gave her a facial massage to sharpen her cheekbones and jawline. I always ask the hotel to bring an ice bucket and put a face roller in it until we’re ready to use it. I love Futurewise Slug Moisturizing Spray and Slug Cream. Together, they plump up the skin and create a beautiful base. They also give you a tremendous sliding roller. I let them sit for a few minutes so her skin wasn’t too wet for foundation.

I like to use a shiny primer under the foundation to create a shimmering skin effect. I mix a lot of things. Saie’s Glow Super gel works well on Barbara’s skin tone. I rubbed it on the high points of her face. I love the Westman Atelier Liquid Superload illuminator from Peau de Rose and the Glow Stick in Sculpting from Chanel. Then, I used Chanel bronzer to warm her skin.

I applied a 4.5-shade Giorgio Armani glow-in-the-dark silk foundation using a beauty foundation machine and my trademark beauty foundation collection. I have been using this foundation for many years, and it always shoots beautifully and stays on all night. I also used Dior’s permanent concealer. Barbara doesn’t look beautiful with anything on her face, so she doesn’t need much help, but I like to use it under the eyes to brighten this area. I’m not a big fan of baking, but I want to use Pat McGrath’s Undereye powder or Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Setting powder to make it last longer.

I used a Westman Atelier Face Trace outline stick from the cookie to build up her outline. I set it up with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Powder Kit—there’s a cool brown hue, which is excellent. I used Charlotte Tilbury’s movie Star Bronze and Glow in the Light in the Middle. I’ve been using it on Barbara for years. It’s my old favorite. I put a little bit of Chanel health powder lipstick on her cheekbones.

After the skin solidified, I started painting her eyebrows. Barbara has beautiful eyebrows, so we made it very simple. I just applied it with an hourglass brow pencil and MAC brow gel. Then I curl her eyelashes. I always use the Tweezerman ProCurl eyelash curler. I used a Westman Atelier contour rod on her eyelids to create the shape I wanted. This is an excellent multi-purpose product. Then, I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini sexy eyeshadow palette. I applied the matte eyeshadow from the top right to her eyes, then pulled it out and applied Giorgio Armani’s Deadly mascara. I used a small brush to apply my eyeliner with a MAC Fluidline gel. Then I took it further with Danish Black Swan Secret 03 feathered eyelashes. They are the best and give you an extended effect.

Throughout the process, Barbara applied aquafer to her lips in preparation for the critical features of this look. I started with a malt-colored Anastasia Beverly Hills lip liner, a dark chocolate color. I used three different shades of ABH lipstick. I put sugar plum on her lips, royal red in the Middle, and an American doll on the poppy part of her lips. I embellished the Phantom with Gloss Luxe by Tom Ford, making it look shiny on the red carpet.

She didn’t need any makeup at the premiere, but let me tell you: Eleffect Tint was awesome. I used it on Barbara the other night at a Roberto Cavalli event because her dress had some cuts. Her complexion changed from fair to bronze in an instant. If you want to feel like you just returned from vacation, this is for you.

Mark Ellam styled Barbara, and Owen Gould styled her hair. Owen used a hot tool iron and some extenders to give her these beautiful curls. I saw some Loravi around here, too. With makeup, her hair looks gorgeous. We are all delighted.

Love,
Toby Henney
