HomeSKIN CAREEssentials: How to Clear and Control Body Acne

Essentials: How to Clear and Control Body Acne

Just as we head into summer and it’s time to shed a few layers and show off the results of those winter workouts, pimples on the body start to flare up. Is this just cruel irony, or is there a scientific reason? It’s both.

When the weather gets warmer, you sweat more, increasing oil production. Combine this with comedogenic sunscreen, and pimples can flare up. But don’t let this discourage you from using sunscreen. It’s crucial for your skin’s health. Instead, follow these tips to manage acne and feel confident all summer long.

Shower immediately after the event

Don’t let dirt, sweat, and sunscreen stay there. Shower as soon as possible after going to the gym, beach, or backyard. Use a cleanser that explicitly targets acne triggers. You’re looking for salicylic acid, lactic acid, benzoyl peroxide, mandelic acid, and vitamin A.

Antibacterial Scrubs

Acne that appears on the back and chest is usually cystic acne, which is an infection deep in the hair follicles and is usually soft and inflamed. But don’t worry, you can effectively manage this. Use an exfoliating cleanser with antibacterial ingredients to remove dead skin cells that clog pores. This can help reduce inflammation and keep your skin clear.

Ice, ice baby

Rubbing ice cubes on the skin before applying corrective products can increase the product’s ability to work deeper and exert maximum efficacy. Cold also reduces inflammation and redness by constricting blood vessels. This speeds up healing and improves appearance quickly. Clean your skin with an ice massage for two to three minutes daily. Your chest will be easy, but you may need some help reaching your back, or you can create it with a handful of clamps.

Hide it

A layer of plastic wrap (yes, the fridge is covered with the stuff of bowls of unknown origin) over the topical medicine can make the formula ten times more effective. Allow to dry completely before covering with plastic wrap. A comfortable T-shirt will help keep the package in place. Let it sit for an hour. Be sure to avoid sensitive areas such as your underarms, sides, and, of course, your face.

Use sunscreen

You may be tempted to skip sunscreen to avoid clogging your pores. I wouldn’t say I like it. Not only are you at risk for burns, but you can also cause long-term damage to the underlying DNA and collagen structure of your skin and increase melanoma changes. If you think the sun can help dry out and clear acne, remember that the pigmentation it stimulates will likely leave dark pigmentation spots than blemishes—minimal improvement.

Try Back beauty

Just like a professional treatment for the face, a back facial involves a deep cleanse, unclogging pores, extracting extracts, gently peeling, and possibly a nice massage. This is a great way to reach those hard-to-reach spots and enhance your cleansing task.
