When I started dabbling in the makeup world, one concealer was highly praised – Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer. It took me a while to try it, but after many years, I understand why it’s so popular!
It has been reformulated quite recently, with slight changes in packaging. But I tested the recipe in the boutique and found it felt very similar to the ones I’ve used, so I’m sticking to my guns 🙂
Cle de Peau Beaute concealer
The great thing about Cle de Peau Beaute concealer is that it comes in a stick. This makes it very portable and also very easy to use. It’s not sticky or creamy and won’t spread on your skin.
The texture of this concealer is a little drier than a cream concealer, so it doesn’t move or move too much.
I was concerned about this dry texture because my skin is relatively dry. I’ve read that concealer can seep into fine lines, especially around the eyes.
I used ivory, which goes well with my skin tone. It does come in several colors, so I hope most people will find a color that suits their skin tone.
You can even draw subtle contours on your face with different shades. A slightly darker eye shadow can enhance the hollows in the cheekbones or create the illusion of a pointier nose, among other things. I’m not good at that, so I must take what God gives me, haha! 😛
Creamy texture, set semi-matte
On my skin, I usually draw a line where I want concealer. This is generally done around my cheekbones to even out the pigmentation slightly, with a dab under my eyes to cover up the dark circles caused by poor sleep patterns.
Then I mix it with a brush or my fingers. While I love applying concealer with a brush, I find the Cle de Peau Beaute concealer blends and sets better when used with my fingers. It has something to do with my fingers’ dry texture and warmth.
Sometimes, I use any residue to disperse the redness around my nose
The opacity is medium and easy to mask according to your preference. I don’t recommend using thick layers because it creases and forms lines. Instead, use a dab and blend. Then, if necessary, refill. Thin layers are always the best choice!
When concealer sets, it doesn’t blend into my skin. Should I prepare my skin well before applying makeup? It plays a part because it gives the product a more hydrated base.
But if you don’t and your skin dries out and has fine lines, it may settle into fine lines. So it’s best to keep your expectations in check.
Multi-purpose concealer stick
While Cle de Peau Beaute concealer is marketed as a concealer, I could use it as a foundation in a pinch. It’s actually like a rod base!
So, in a pinch, I can draw some quick lines on my face, mix it up, and go on my merry way. These days, except for Guerlain meteorites, I don’t fix my mounts, and I find almost no mounts that look good for my lifestyle.
This means I can easily travel with this product as it meets all my basic cosmetic needs in a small portable stick!
I recently ran out of my Nars Radiant cream concealer, so I’ve been using this Cle de Peau Beaute concealer exclusively, and I’ve always loved it. I can see why it’s so popular. It can be hidden, it’s easy to mix, and it’s easy to use.
However, it is also priced extravagantly. Everything has a bad side, haha! 😛
